Kendrick Lim — known worldwide as Kunkka — is a Singapore-based illustrator, concept artist, Art Director, and co-founder of Imaginary Friends Studios (IFS), one of Asia's most celebrated art studios, whose clients include Valve, Capcom, Square-Enix, Ubisoft, Sony Online Entertainment, and DC Comics. One of the most recognizable digital artists working at the intersection of gaming, comics, and collectible art today, Kunkka has built a global following across two decades of work that spans virtually every corner of the entertainment industry.
His defining early contribution to the gaming world was the iconic splash art for DOTA and DOTA 2 — work so beloved by the community that Valve honored him with something virtually unprecedented: an official in-game hero named after him. That legacy established him as one of the most influential digital artists in gaming history long before his transition into comics. Alongside his IFS co-founders Stanley Lau (Artgerm) and Kai Lim, Kunkka also teaches illustration and concept art at 3Dsense Media School in Singapore — training the next generation of artists through one of the most globally respected creative curricula in Asia.
In recent years, Kunkka has made a significant move into mainstream comics publishing as part of Artgerm Collectibles — delivering cover work for Marvel Comics on Carnage, Hellverine, and Ghost Rider, as well as cover work for Image Comics (M.A.S.K.), IDW, and Dynamite, and fine art prints for Sideshow Collectibles featuring Batman, Poison Ivy, and other iconic DC characters. His original art pieces regularly command prices upward of $2,950 at auction through Raremarq and Nerd Crawler.
His blind bag cover for NiFe WARS Issue #5 is one of the most high-profile artist contributions in the franchise's history — bringing a globally recognized name with a fanbase spanning gaming, comics, and collectibles to one of independent comics' most ambitious series.
