One girl carries an ability that Temeluchus has been hunting since the dawn of time.

In 3017, Temeluchus came to her childhood home in Neo Tokyo. Her mother died shielding her brother. Her father burned alive trying to shield her from Temeluchus. She lost her brother. She lost her Cipher, Lumina, the ambient intelligence she'd been bonded to since she could remember her own name.

She didn't die. She ran. Years later, she surfaces on Kamen — a lawless mining asteroid in Earth's orbit — under an alias the resistance whispers but Earth's police have a warrant for. No family. No Cipher. Just the combat instincts Lumina left burned into her neural pathways, and a power inside her that no one — not even her — fully understands.

The first is the molten core of Earth — vast reserves locked thousands of miles beneath the surface, nearly impossible to extract. The second is Kamen, a jagged asteroid caught in Earth's orbit, where NiFe deposits sit close enough to the surface to mine.

NiFe powers everything that matters — human and alien alike. It opens space-time portals. It fuels spaceships across galaxies. It builds civilizations. It annihilates them.
